         Covid cases dropped below one lakh in India.  All parts of the country are recovering from Covid-2 outbreak.  Governments started unlocking on different stages.  But at the same time Black fungus(Mucormicosis) cases are increasing in the people who recovered from coronavirus.  In addition white fungus and yellow fungus cases are also arising in some parts of the country. Now a new fungal case has been identified in the country.  Doctors say that the new fungus identified is Green fungus.  Green fungus also known as Aspergillosis fungus.

The first Green fungus case was detected in Indore district of Madhyapradesh.  A 34 year old covid recovered patient admitted in a private hospital with Black fungus symptoms.  After a lab test it was recognised that it is Green Fungus.  




What is Green Fungus?

Green fungus or Aspergillosis is commonly found in species of fungi, known as Aslpergillisis.  Green fungus is found in both indoor and outdoors, and many people breathe Aspergillus spores every day from air without getting any health issues.  There are 180 species of Aspergillus, but only about 40 variants are known to cause infection in people.


Who can get Green Fungus


Most affected people of Green Fungus are those who have asthma, Lung diseases, diabetic patients recovered from Coronavirus.  Green fungus also affects the people who have weak immunity, those who had organ transplantation, those who are treated with Chemotherapy for cancer, those who take high doses of steroids.

 

Symptoms of Green Fungus


Different Aspergillosis can cause different symptoms. 

 Aspergillosis infection can cause following common symptoms

Allergies, similar problems of asthma, wheezing or breathing problems, cough and fever.  Among the symptoms of allergic Aspergillus sinusitis are dry ness, running nose, headache, reduced smell sense. The symptoms of Aspergillome or “fungi ball” cough, coughing up blood, weight loss, breathing problems, fatigue. Fever is a common symptom of invasive Aspergillosis.


How to prevent Green Fungus


Doctors suggest some precautions to avoid Green fungus.

  • Infection can only be prevented with maintaining good hygiene, oral and physical cleanness. 

  • Wear a N95 mask when we go out.

  • Avoid using stored and contaminated water.

  • Avoid the activities that contact soil and dust after rocovering from coronavirus.

  • Keep always clean your hands with soap when contacted with soil, stored water and dust etc.
