Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

The largest democratic Country is going to celebrate its 75th Independence day on August 15, 2022.  To commemorate this great occasion The Government of India announced "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav". The Mahotsav is a 75 weeks programme to celebrate @75 years of Indian Independence.  This celebration of great Mahotsav is dedicated to the people who fought for Indian Independence.   


When the Mahotsav Started

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the program "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" at Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad Gujarat,  on 12th March, 2021. 12 March also marks the day when Mahatma Gandhi began a famous salt march protest against a new salt tax imposed by the British Government in 1930, which is also called the Dandi march.  On 12th March, 2021  Dandi march completed 91 years, on this day Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the great Mahotsav.  Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a 75 weeks continuous program conducted across the country.  This 75th anniversary of Independence Mahotsav will end by 15th August, 2023 post the year of the @75 years of Independence.  

Events in Mahotsav

The mega event is on India's Freedom Struggle, Ideas, Achievements, Actions and Resolve in 75 years.  And They have been decided as the five pillars to celebrate @75 years of independence.  The Central Government, Ministers and associated departments planned their own schedule and programmes for each of the following 75 weeks. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a programme lined up to focus on points of India's Socio, Cultural, Political, scientific, economic and technological aspects of the country post independence. @75 also covers the initiatives that have helped the country to grow domestically and on international stages. 

Objectives

  • Mahotsav is a country wise campaign which will focus on Citizen Participation.
  • Connecting the people of different regions across the country.  Mahotsav will enhance and promote mutual understanding among people of different States and Union territories by conducting different activities.
  • In order to promote inclusivity of the country, regional languages will be highlighted. 
  • India is a country formed by diverse linguistic, cultural and religion, held together into a composite national identity. This would be focused on Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
  • India will celebrate 100 years of independence in 2047. Mahotsav will focus India’s vision and aspiration of youth and what India will be in the next 25 years. During the Mahotsav India will strive to take a “Shatabdi Sankalp”.
  • Mahotsav will exhibit 75 years of development from space and technology, to health and education.
  • Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav highlights India’s culture and heritage on Global stages and brings awareness globally. 

Themes

“Vishva Guru Bharath”

Since the beginning of civilization India has been Guru for the whole world. India showed the whole world its academic brilliance through Sushurtha, Kanad and Aryabatta.

“Ideas, Achievements and Resolve”

The idea is to celebrate the nation of India being the best in class in the social, political and economical realm and is shared by every indian.  

Achievements in Agriculture, Science and Technology would be highlighted during the event.

“Aatmanirbhar Bharat”

Aatmanirbhar Bharat is the idea of self-reliance and encourages the entrepreneurs to produce maximum goods and services within the country, which is  the vision of PM Narendra Modi. 

“Celebrating Unsung Heroes”

During the Mahotsav events, exhibitions, publications and developing museums keep the unacknowledged heroes of Indian freedom fighters, who do not find place in the freedom movement story.

“India’s Rich Heritage Culture”

People belonging to diverse communities, speaking different languages, having different food, performing different customs harmoniously coexist in India. Thus, the soul of cultural heritage of India lies in the fact that it’s an all embracing confluence of religions, traditions, customs and beliefs.

The Main Theme of this Mega Event

    Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is headed by the Central Government and different ministries and the departments under Government of India have conceptualized events that not only align with the overall focus on nation building but also help us appreciate in an ongoing manner the ideas of resilience and self reliance, connect with our rich cultural heritage and draw inspiration from India’s ever expanding role as a global leader.
